You’re Invited.

On Sunday, December 15, a 53-year community Christmas tradition will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church of Long Beach, as it has since 1969. The public is invited to attend one of two Christmas concerts, “The Angels Proclaim,” at 3:00 pm or 7:00 p.m. This concert is a FREE TICKETED EVENT, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A freewill offering will be received to benefit Bethany Lutheran Music Ministry and Music Scholarship Fund.

Noah Freeman, Director of Music and Worship Arts, will lead this year’s concerts and has selected a variety of sacred choral and orchestral music. Sure to delight concert attendees is an array of uplifting anthems including “Angels From the Realms of Glory” by Dan Forrest. The Bethany Choir will present anthems by Jeffrey Blersch, Joel Raney, William Mathias, Taylor Scott Davis, John Behnke, and Brett Stewart. The Jubilate Handbell Choir will present a stunning arrangement of “Go Tell It On The Mountain” by Linda McKechnie and Don Marsh and “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus” by acclaimed handbell composer, Lauran Delancy. The Trinity & Troubadour children’s choirs will also be featured singing anthems which tell of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Our concert organist, Robert Bottoms, and our piano accompanist, Kevin Bowers will be featured in the program.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, “GLORY TO THE NEWBORN KING!”

Christmas at Bethany FAQs

  • Tickets will become available on Tuesday, November 12. You'll get them by going to www.BethanyLutheranMusicMinistry.org/Christmas. (Yes, the music ministry has a NEW website!) From there, you'll be able to choose what concert(s) you'll want tickets for. In addition, this year's Christmas concert postcard advertisements have QR codes on them that will take people directly to the website when scanned. You can also get tickets by calling the church office.

  • NO. Because you aren't taking up an audience "seat," you do not need a ticket. If someone in your family who is not a performer is attending, they will need a ticket.

  • NO. However, if your spouse or anyone you’re bringing to the concert is not a performer, usher, reader, or tech producer, they will need a ticket.

  • YES. Because you are not a performer, you will need to reserve a ticket. To preserve seating for our community, parents, please consider attending only ONE of the two available concerts. Thank you for helping us keep seating available for all those who wish to attend!

  • YES. When you place your ticket order, you’ll receive an email with your tickets attached. You can print your tickets, save the barcode to your phone, or add your tickets to your phone via Apple Wallet or Android Pay. Should you lose your ticket or forget to bring it to the concert, ushers have the ability to look up your order by your first and last name.

  • NO. Tickets are free. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A freewill offering will be received to benefit Bethany Lutheran Music Ministry and the Music Scholarship Fund.

  • Any one (1) ticket only grants a seat for the concert dates and times. It does not guarantee seat location, group seating, family seating, parking, or accessibility zone seating. Seating is still available on a first-come, first-served basis, although people will still need to show proof of a ticket at entry to the concert.

  • Please contact Director of Music Ministries & Worship Arts, Noah Freeman, OR Music Ministry Assistant, Mara Widmann for questions regarding ticket orders. You can also call the church office at 562-421-4711.

  • Doors will open ONE HOUR before each concert (2:00pm for the 3:00pm concert; 6:00pm for the 7:00pm concert). Seat-saving is prohibited before that time.

  • You will receive a confirmation email with your ticket, which you can print out or show at the door on your device (the digital email, adding the ticket to Apple Wallet, or a screenshot of the ticket's QR code).

  • A growth in our music ministry ensemble numbers equals a growth in attendees at concerts. This is a good thing. Additionally, the greater Long Beach/Orange County community is well aware of Bethany Lutheran's thriving music ministry, and is eager to attend special music events such as this. This is also a good thing. Ticketing our Christmas Concerts is not meant to be a barrier or an overly complex step. In fact, it will do quite the opposite for the Christmas Concerts, creating excitement and anticipation for what is truly a mountaintop experience at Bethany - celebrating the birth of the King, Christ Jesus. Additionally, because of a very high volume of attendees at last year's concerts, we want to ensure that both concerts are equally attended, AND that safety is kept in mind, as we cannot legally fill the aisles with seating, in respect to fire & evacuation code.

  • Tickets are transferrable. You can simply give your ticket to someone else, OR you can contact the church office, where event staff can help you return the tickets and they will become available for another person to claim.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing…

The Christmas Concerts at Bethany Lutheran are a must-witness event. Bethany Lutheran’s Christmas concerts are not just music; they directly glorify Jesus, bringing the Long Beach community together in celebration and worship.
— Noah Freeman, director

The annual Christmas concerts at Bethany Lutheran Church have become a cherished tradition spanning nearly 53 years, featuring a lineup of distinguished choirs: the Trinity Choir, Troubadour Choir, Bethany Choir, Crescendo Handbell Choir, and Jubilate Handbell Choir, along with pianist, Kevin Bowers, and resident organist, Robert Bottoms. These concerts hold profound significance as a joyous celebration of Christ’s birth. Bethany Lutheran Church is humbled to continue this longstanding tradition that boldly and profoundly proclaims that Christ the King is born for you and for all. Soli Deo Gloria!

…glory to the newborn King!
